Angel Tradition in the ANF

A tradition that Jesus was an "ANGEL" in his pre-human existance runs right through the ANF.

Phil. Chap. 9. Corpus Ignatium by William Cureton)

(IGNATIUS OF ANTIOCH): “...The ministering Powers of God are good ; the Comforter is good, most holy, above all holy things, and the Servant of the Word. But the High-Priest and Prince of High-Priests, who is the Legate and Minister of the Father, and THE PRINCE OF THE LEGIONS OF THE HEAVENLY HOST, is most holy, above all holy beings ; [Ltn., per = through] by whom the Father [Ltn., fecit] made all things, and provides for them all...” - (Page 91. Ign. Ad. Philad. Chap. 9. p. 84. [As quoted in William Whistons 'Primitive Christianity Revived' Vol., 4.)

- (To the Smyrnaeans Chapter 8; LONG RECENSION From Corpus Ignatianum by William Cureton)

IGNATIUS ( 30-117 C.E. - (The Epistles of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans; Chapter 8; Longer Greek Version)

(IGNATIUS 30-117 C.E. ): "...Under certain conditions wherever the overseer appears, is the place where the multitude of [us] should be, even as it were the Christ, like the whole of the heavenly army that stands by [Him] as [the] [ἀρχιστρατήγῳ] CHEIF-COMMANDER OF THE POWER[S] OF THE LORD and Governor of all [who have] an intelligent nature..." - (The Epistles of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans; Chapter  8; Longer Greek Version, Translated by Matt13weedhacker.)
[FOOTNOTE]: "...Power..." is singular but understood to refer to the Angel(s) plural. So I have translated so, but put S in brackets.

IGNATIUS ( 30-117 C.E. ): "...even aswhere Christ is, there does all the heavenly host stand by, waiting upon Him as THE CHIEF CAPTAIN OF THE LORD’S MIGHT, and the Governor of every intelligent nature..." - (The Epistles of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans; Chapter  8; Longer Greek Version Translated by A. CLEVELAND COXE, D.D. American Edition by the REV. ALEXANDER ROBERTS, D.D., and JAMES DONALDSON, LL.D)

Compare this with Joshua Chapter 5:13,14; LXX Version:

(LXX-ENGLISH): “...And he said to him, I am now come, THE CHIEF CAPTAIN OF THE HOST OF THE LORD. And Jesus fell on his face upon the earth, and said to him, Master, what commands thou thy servant? 15 And THE COMMANDING SOLDIER OF THE LORD spoke to Jesus, Loose thy sandals from thy feet, for the place whereon thou now stands is holy...” - (THE HOLY ORTHODOX BIBLE THE GREEK SEPTUAGINT IN ENGLISH)

(LXX-ENGLISH): “...Now when Joshua was by Jericho, he raised his eyes, and saw a man standing before him, with a drawn sword in his hand, 14 upon which Joshua, advancing, said to him, Art thou one of us or of our enemies ? And he said to him, I am THE CAPTAIN GENERAL OF THE HOST OF THE LORD, just arrived. At this Joshua prostrated himself, with his face to the ground, and said to him, My lord, what dost thou command thy servant. And THE LORD'S CAPTAIN GENERAL said to Joshua, Loose the sandals from thy feet, for the place on which thou didst stand is holy ground...” - (CHARLES THOMSON'S ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE GREEK SEPTUAGINT (LXX) BIBLE)

(LXX-ENGLISH): “...And it happened, when Iesous was at Iericho, that he looked up with his eyes and saw a person standing before him, and his sword was drawn in his hand. And Iesous approached and said to him, “Are you one of us or on the side of our adversaries?” Then he said to him, “As COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE FORCE OF THE LORD I have now come.” And Iesous fell facedown onto the earth, and he said to him, “Master, what do you order your domestic?” And THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE LORD said to Iesous, “Loosen the sandal from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy.” - (NETS - A New English Translation of the Septuagint 2007.)
